Bruce Shimabukuro

Bruce Shimabukuro

Bruce Shimabukuro, born and raised in Hawaii, is quickly becoming a household name in the world of ukulele. After his mother began teaching him the "uke" from a very young age, Shimabukuro quickly found the Hawaiian, four-string instrument to be an unlimited source of joy and happiness. As a teenager, Bruce began recording and touring with his older brother Jake Shimabukuro, a ukulele performer and recording artist. During those impressionable years, Bruce discovered his love and passion for the uke and wanted to help others realize the positive effects of the humble instrument by opening up his very own ukulele school called, "Ukulele Essence." It was there that Shimabukuro quickly embraced his own method of teaching music that would keep students of all ages enthusiastic about learning the fundamentals of the ukulele. Now, with over ten years of teaching experience and three solo records under his belt, Bruce Shimabukuro has found a new way to bring it all together by opening up his own ukulele center at the Pacific Beach Hotel in the heart of Waikiki called, "THE UKEBOX."

Bruce Shimabukuro will be performing at this year's Rice Fest from 3pm-3:30pm. Click here for a complete schedule.
