ELIGIBILITY. The contest is open to all legal residents of the United States who are 18 years of age or older as of September 11, 2010. Entrants must reside in Hawaii. All federal, state and local laws and regulations apply. No purchase is necessary to compete in this contest. Void where prohibited by law.

DISCLAIMER. By participating, entrants agree to these official rules and the final decisions of the judges. The participating entities will not be responsible for any distorted, damaged, illegible, incomplete, mis-directed, postage-due, late, lost or stolen entries. Sponsors are not held responsible for any contest disruptions involving network, Internet, computer malfunctions and/or other errors. Proof of mailing or submission of any entry will not be considered proof of receipt. All entries become the property of the Sponsors and will not be returned.

ENTRY PERIOD. The contest begins at 12:00:01AM (HST) on July 1, 2010 and ends 11:59:59PM (HST) on August 31, 2010 (Entry Period).

HOW TO ENTER. To enter, please visit http://www.ricefest.com/node/add/recipe-contest and submit your original “Riceipe.” Please fill in all requested information completely. All entries must be submitted with the Official “Riceipe” Form; failure to do so will result in disqualification of entry. If you do not have access to the Internet, you may print the Official “Riceipe” Form at http://www.ricefest.com/node/add/recipe-contest, fill out & attach your recipe to the form. Mail in an envelope to: “Riceipe” Contest, c/o: HPE Live, P.O. Box 30337, Honolulu, HI 96820. All mail-in entries must be received by August 31, 2010. Contestants may enter more than one recipe; but each recipe must be submitted separately.

”RICEIPE” CONTEST CRITERIA. Recipes submitted must be original and by submitting the recipe, contestants represent and warrant to Sponsors that they are the sole and exclusive creator of the recipe and have all rights and authority to submit the recipe. Sponsors will not be liable in any way for recipes submitted. Recipes submitted cannot be changed or modified once entered into the contest. However, if a mistake is discovered after submission, you may enter the corrected recipe prior to the deadline. The recipe must not have won a prize in any other contest. Failure to comply with any of these rules will result in disqualification.
All recipes entered:

Must consist of some form of rice.

Must be entered into one of two categories: 1) Professional or 2) Amateur

“Professional” Category – entries by a professional chef must include the establishment or restaurant name

“Amateur” Category – entries by all others will fall into this category

Must include the name of the dish, a list of exact ingredients with standard U.S. measurements, required utensils, step-by-step preparation instructions, and cooking times.
After the deadline, a panel of judges selected by the Sponsor shall select 5 finalists from each of the two categories to compete in a cook-off for the title of Hawaii’s “Riceipe” Contest Winner held on September 11, 2010 at the Rice Fest. The judges will evaluate the submitted recipes and finalists will be chosen based on creativity, perceived taste of the finished recipe, and perceived ease of preparation. All judges’ decisions will be final. Finalists must provide the ingredients necessary for their recipes, as well as all required cooking utensils.

NOTIFICATION. Finalists will be selected and notified by email and/or telephone on or about September 4, 2010. If the potential finalist cannot be reached for any reason, or does not respond, they will be disqualified and the next runner-up will be selected as a finalist.

CONDITIONS/WAIVER. By entering the contest, the participant agrees that the sponsors and all of the agencies, companies & corporations involved and their respective directors, officers, employees, and all others associated with the development and execution of this contest shall not be held responsible for any negligence, claims, liability, injury or property loss or other damages of winning arising from, or in connections with the prizes or participation in this promotional event.

SPONSOR OWNERSHIP. All entries and materials submitted to Sponsor in connection with the contest such as entry materials, along with the copyright, trademark and other proprietary rights, become the property of the Sponsor upon submission. Entrants acknowledge that by entering the contest, you grant the Sponsor a non-exclusive, fully-transferable, perpetual, royalty-free, fully paid up right and license to adapt, edit, publish, promote, reproduce, distribute, publicly display, perform, and make derivative works based on the recipe submission in any media as Sponsors see fit for any reason.

USE OF ENTRANT’S NAME, LIKENESS, ETC. Entry into this contest constitutes permission to identify you as the author of the submitted recipe and to authorize others to do any of the above without any obligation or compensation. Contestants agree to the use of their name, photo, video, recipe and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes without additional compensation, unless prohibited by law.

MISCELLANEOUS. The Sponsor reserves the right to change the official rules at any time, under its sole discretion, and to cancel the contest or any entrant’s participation in the contest.
